Working with the Architect of Record Fred Doriot, Michael E. Pipkins was responsible for the creation and implementation of architectural drawing standards for the Boardwalk Hotel & Casino. He was also responsible for development of the master plan; design development; coordination of working drawings & processes with draftsmen; code analysis; consultant coordination; detailing; exiting & accessibility analysis; construction documentation and all construction administration.
This architectural project consisted of 30,000 sq. ft. casino expansion including retail shops, new restaurants, bars, cashiers booths, entertainment lounge as well as convention facilities; The existing 10 Story Hotel Tower was remodeled to meet with Holiday Inn standards. A second High Rise Tower was also designed by the Architect but not constructed.
Project also included a 4 story parking garage with continuous ramp floors and a bridge from the parking garage to the casino (the bridge was not constructed); The “Roller Coaster Facade” was constructed as an actual working roller coaster utilizing magnetic propulsion (The First in Las Vegas) although the owner never chose to make this feature available to the public.
